Remember the " Rule of 20's"

  • Avoid drinking 20 minutes before and during your meal - the liquid will dilute the digestive juices in the stomach
  • Chew each mouthful 20 times
  • Allow 20 minutes before you have dessert or seconds - it takes 20 minutes for the brain to register the stomach is full.
  • Allow 20 minutes after your meal before you drink - to allow your stomach pH and enzymes to do their function.

 

Avoid eating fruit with meals as the acid and sugar disturbs digestion and can cause fermentation.

 

Relax when you eat - allow yourself time to sit and enjoy your food.

 

Drink plenty of water  / herbal teas throughout the day - at least 6 glasses.

 

Snack on fruit.

 

If you feel bloated or windy gently massage the stomach and take peppermint to disperse wind.
